Thank you to our sponsors

Built with help from the best in the business.

These brands stepped up with parts and support to help bring this rig back to life. We couldn't hand over the keys without them.

How it's picked

Every eligible letter gets read and scored.

The people who bring our rigs back to life, the Kings Chariot mechanics and detailers, read and score every nomination against the same three criteria. It's a judged contest, so chance plays no part.

Before letters go to the judges, we check them for eligibility and remove contact details. The highest score wins, and the next two become alternates.

01

Need and impact

How much a dependable rig would change the nominee's life: work, school, family, getting where they need to go.

02

Character and service

What the nominee gives to their family, their community and the people around them.

03

The story

Clarity, sincerity and detail. You don't need to be a great writer. Just tell us who they are and why it matters.

The story wall

Letters from across the country.

With signed consent, we'll share nomination letters here as they arrive. We'll show first names and hometowns only. Being posted here doesn't mean a letter was chosen, and it doesn't affect judging.

Questions

The short answers

Do I have to live in Florida?

No. Anyone who's a legal U.S. resident 18 or older can nominate or be nominated. The recipient has to come to Kings Chariot in Jacksonville to pick up the rig in person on giveaway day, Jan. 9, 2027.

Does it cost anything to nominate?

No. Nominating is completely free, and buying something from Kings Chariot has no effect on judging.

Does it have to be handwritten?

Yes. Everything in the envelope has to be written by hand: the official form, filled out in pen, and the nomination story. Typed, printed or computer-written letters won't be judged. Neat or messy doesn't matter. We want to hear it in your own words.

Can I nominate online?

No. Nominations are by mail only, on the official form printed from this site, and must arrive by 5 p.m. ET on Dec. 31, 2026.

Can I nominate myself?

No. Self-nominations aren't accepted. Someone else has to tell us your story.

Can I send more than one nomination?

No. Each person can send one nomination, and each nominee is judged only once. If the same person is nominated more than once, only the first eligible nomination we receive is judged.

How is the recipient picked?

The Kings Chariot mechanics and detailers score each letter on three things: need and impact, character and service, and the story itself. It's a judged contest, so chance plays no part.

What shape is the GX in?

It's a 2008 Lexus GX 470 that's been through our shop: mechanical prep by our technicians, cosmetic prep by our detailers, plus a documented safety inspection and recall check before the handoff. The recipient gets the full report and is welcome to have their own mechanic look it over. Like any giveaway vehicle, it's awarded as-is, with no warranty.

What if the recipient can't make it to Jacksonville?

The winner needs to be at Kings Chariot on Jan. 9, 2027, to pick up the rig in person. If they can't make it by Jan. 23, the rig goes to the next-highest-scoring nomination. Kings Chariot doesn't cover travel, lodging or shipping, so getting to Jacksonville and getting the rig home are up to the recipient.

Who pays for the title and taxes?

For a Florida winner, Kings Chariot pays the title, tag, registration and sales tax. An out-of-state winner gets $1,500 in cash with the truck to help with titling and registration in their home state.

Does the recipient owe income tax?

Yes. The rig, plus any cash or fees we cover, counts as taxable income, and Kings Chariot will issue a Form 1099.
